Another day, another public building, another public servant forgetting who actually pays the bills.

A viral video is making the rounds showing a tense encounter between two government employees and a citizen simply trying to exercise their rights inside a government facility. And the internet? It’s not impressed.

“You’re in a State Building…”

…says the man, with the same energy as a nightclub bouncer in a bad mood.

The clip opens with a woman in a bright orange top looking visibly annoyed, standing beside a man who seems convinced he’s guarding a federal vault instead of, you know, a publicly funded office. Their body language screams authority, but not the kind people respect — the kind that gets ratio’d on Twitter.

The Entitlement Is Wild

At one point, the man says, “You’re in a state…” like it’s some sort of gotcha moment. But social media users were quick to remind everyone that government buildings are funded by the taxpayers — not personal property of the staff inside them.

“They really act like they own the place because they’ve got a name badge and a hallway,” one user commented.
“This is why First Amendment audits exist,” another added.

Public Money, Public Access

People are fed up with the idea that public servants — keyword public — can gatekeep buildings and services that belong to the people. Whether it’s filming in a lobby, requesting public records, or simply asking questions, the public has the right to access government spaces without being treated like intruders.

And when the employees act like security guards at Area 51? That’s when clips like this blow up.
