This one’s sparking serious backlash — and some are calling it the most tone-deaf “First Amendment audit” yet.
A pair of men have gone viral for all the wrong reasons after they were caught filming outside a retail store, ignoring a female employee who politely asked them to stop — and then mocking her after she shared she was going through a divorce.
In the now widely-shared video, the woman steps out of the store looking visibly uncomfortable. She asks them, “Can you please not record me? I’m going through a divorce.”
Instead of showing even a shred of empathy, the men refuse to stop and one of them actually fires back with:
“Maybe that’s why you’re divorced.”
Yeah. That actually happened.
The woman, stunned, asks them to leave. They don’t. They just keep recording from the sidewalk, smirking and pushing boundaries. Soon after, the store manager comes out and calls the police.
But when officers arrive? They can’t do much.
Because the men are standing on public property, not interfering with store operations, and — technically — not breaking any laws. Just filming. Just being jerks.
Social media is now exploding over the footage.
“This isn’t free speech. This is harassment,” one commenter wrote.
“People really forgot how to be decent humans,” another added.
Some defenders are claiming it’s their right to film in public. Others are calling for new protections against targeted harassment, especially when it involves vulnerable workers just trying to get through the day.
The woman has not publicly responded, but the clip — and the cold comment — has stuck with viewers.
So — legal, yes. But ethical? Not even close.
The internet has already made up its mind on this one.
