Another day, another viral video — this time starring a store owner, a camera, and a man who knows exactly what his rights are.
A video making the rounds online shows a man calmly filming outside a local store — standing on a public sidewalk, camera in hand, saying nothing, doing nothing, just recording.
That alone was enough to set off alarms for the store owner, who comes outside looking visibly concerned. She asks the man, politely at first, to stop filming.
“I’m just not comfortable with this,” she says. “Can you please stop recording my store?”
The man — calm, but unmoved — simply replies:
“I’m on public property. I’m allowed to film. I’m not doing anything wrong.”
She tries again. He keeps recording.
So, she calls the police.
But here’s where things take a beautifully ironic turn.
When officers arrive, they speak briefly with the man, take a look around… and then turn to the store owner and, allegedly, let her know that he’s within his rights.
“Have a good day,” they say — to him.
No arrest. No ID check. No demand to stop. Just a peaceful goodbye and a clear message: filming in public is not a crime.
Now the internet’s reacting the only way it knows how — loudly.
“This is why you record EVERYTHING. Knowledge is power,” one user commented.
“Cops did the right thing here — store owner needs to chill,” another added.
Some sympathized with the owner, saying her concern was understandable. But most are pointing out that the law doesn’t bend for discomfort — if it’s public, you can film it.
So — creepy, or constitutionally protected?
Whatever your take, this guy just schooled a whole lot of people on the First Amendment — and he didn’t even have to say much.
