[EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD STREET – EARLY MORNING]

A light drizzle falls as cars roll quietly through a sleepy street. From a nearby storm drain, faint splashing and frantic quacking echo out.

A small white duck, feathers soaked and stuck in the narrow grate, flaps desperately, trying to climb out—but slipping every time.

[EXT. SIDEWALK – CONTINUOUS]

JORDAN (late 20s, hoodie up, walking their dog) hears the noise and stops. The dog barks, pulling toward the sound.

JORDAN (frowning):
That’s not… is that a duck?

They crouch, peer into the storm drain — and there it is. Terrified, shivering, covered in grime. A lost little duck with no way out.

[EXT. STORM DRAIN – MOMENTS LATER]

Jordan calls the local animal rescue while kneeling in the rain. As they wait, they feed the duck bits of granola bar through the grate, whispering gently.

JORDAN:
Hang in there, buddy. Help’s coming.

[EXT. STORM DRAIN – 30 MINUTES LATER]

Rescuers arrive with gloves, tools, and a crate. It takes teamwork, patience, and careful hands, but finally…

The white duck is lifted free. Its little head pops up, eyes blinking at the sky like it’s seeing it for the first time.

It waddles straight into Jordan’s arms, nuzzling close like it already knows: this was its hero.
