It was just a normal drive — windows down, music low, mind wandering. But then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something small dart across the road and disappear into the tall grass.

I slowed down, pulled over, and stepped out. The wind was quiet… and then I heard it — the tiniest, saddest meow.

There she was. A tiny kitten, no more than a few weeks old. Covered in dust, shaking, and all alone. No houses nearby. No mother in sight. Just this fragile little life, stranded by the side of the road.

She looked up at me, eyes wide and scared. I crouched down and held out my hand. She didn’t run. She didn’t hiss. She just took a shaky step forward… and collapsed into my palm.

I wrapped her in my hoodie, cranked up the heat in the car, and whispered, “You’re safe now.”

I took her home, gave her food, warmth, and a name: Willow. A vet visit later, and she was healthy — just hungry, tired, and desperate for love.

Now she’s curled up in my lap as I write this. Purring. Alive. Home.

Sometimes, the universe puts a life in your path — and all you have to do… is stop.
