A wild video is going viral after a man was pulled over by police who accused him of something serious — smuggling undocumented immigrants — and then allegedly tried to fake a reason to search his car.
The man, calm but clearly confused, records the entire encounter from the driver’s seat.
“Do you mind if we search your vehicle?” the officer asks.
“Yeah, I do. I don’t consent to any searches,” the driver replies, firmly but politely.
That’s when things escalate.
The officer claims they’re bringing in a K9 unit. According to them, the dog “alerted” — which legally gives them probable cause to search without consent.
Except… the video tells a different story.
Bodycam and dashcam footage from the scene shows the K9 walking around the vehicle — but never actually alerting. No barking, no sitting, no indication at all.
Despite that, police pull the man out of the car and begin searching anyway.
Viewers online were furious, calling it a textbook example of rights being ignored.
“They literally lied about the dog alerting. That’s illegal,” one person commented.
Another added: “These kinds of stops are exactly why people film everything.”
The man wasn’t found with anything illegal. No smuggling, no drugs, nothing. Just another innocent person who knew his rights — and watched them get steamrolled anyway.
Civil rights groups are now reportedly looking into the stop, especially the false K9 alert, which has sparked calls for stricter oversight on police use of dogs in traffic stops.
As one viral comment put it:
“If the dog didn’t alert, the search didn’t have cause. It’s that simple. This ain’t 2003.”
