A video of a routine interaction gone completely sideways is lighting up social media — after a man was arrested for literally
 standing.

The clip starts with a simple question.

A man walks up to a female police officer near a patrol car and casually asks,
“What’s up? What’s going on?”

Instead of explaining, she snaps back:
“Don’t worry about it.”

The man’s clearly caught off guard. “Excuse me?” he replies, raising his voice slightly. “That’s how you talk to people?”

Things get heated fast — not violent, not threatening, just tense. He’s upset over her dismissive attitude and calls her out on it. You can hear the frustration in his voice:
“You’re a public servant. I have the right to ask what’s happening!”

That’s when another officer steps in — a male cop trying to play peacekeeper.
“Let’s all just calm down,” he says, standing between them. “She’s doing her job.”

But then, out of nowhere, the situation flips.

“You’re standing too close to the vehicle,” the male officer says suddenly. “You’re interfering.”

Before anyone can blink, the man is being put in cuffs.

“What?! I didn’t touch anything! I was just standing here!” he shouts as they arrest him.

And the internet is having none of it.

The top comment on the video says it all:
“They always say ‘calm down’ right before they cuff you for nothing.”

Others pointed out the irony: “Ask a question, get an attitude. Stand still, get arrested. What exactly are the rules again?”

The arrest sparked outrage online, with people calling it a textbook example of ego-fueled policing and a lack of accountability.

Civil rights advocates are weighing in, saying that if someone can be arrested simply for standing near a police car and asking a question, that’s a serious problem.

“You don’t get to invent crimes just because you don’t like someone’s tone,” one user wrote.
