Leo:
Can you, like… not look at other guys?
Ava:
(raises an eyebrow)
Excuse me?
Leo:
I saw you glance at that dude when we got on. The one with the hoodie. Just—don’t.
Ava:
Leo, I was literally just looking around. It’s a public bus, not a private room.
Leo:
Yeah, but still. You’re with me. You don’t need to be checking anyone else out.
Ava:
I’m not checking anyone out. You’re being paranoid.
Leo:
I’m just saying—I don’t like it. Makes me feel weird.
Ava:
You know what really makes me feel weird? Being told who I can and can’t look at. That’s not okay, Leo.
Leo:
I just… I don’t want to lose you. Guys stare at you all the time and I can’t stand it.
Ava:
Then trust me. Don’t try to control me. That’s how you actually lose someone.
[They sit in silence for a moment. Leo looks down, then back at her with a softer tone.]
Leo:
You’re right. I’m sorry. I just need to chill.
Ava:
Yeah. I care about you. But I need space to breathe too.
