We’ve all tried to dodge doing something we don’t want to do—whether it’s going out, doing chores, or getting your books (yes, even as an adult). But this classic Two and a Half Men moment really takes the cake.
“Go get your books.”
“I left my books at Mom’s.”
Boom. Excuse level: 1000. Jon Cryer’s character delivers that line with pure, unfiltered honesty, looking like he’s already made peace with the fact that he’s not doing whatever he was asked to do.
It’s genius. Not only is it a convenient excuse, but it’s the kind of answer that shuts down further conversation, leaving no room for rebuttal. Your hands are tied. You can’t argue with “Mom’s.”
Moral of the story?
Sometimes, the best way to avoid something is with a lie that’s just absurd enough to be true. Or, you know, throw Mom into the mix. Works every time.
